A brace from Ahmed Musa has earned him the Man of the Match after Nigeria defeated Iceland in their
second match of Group D at the on-going FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The Nigeria number 7 who plays for Leicester City of England grabbed both goals in the 49 and 75th
minute of play to make history by becoming the second African player to score two World Cup goals
after Roger Milla of Cameroon did it at the FIFA 1990 World Cup in Italy.
Musa’s second goal was a fine individual effort bursting through Iceland defender Kari Arnason before
rounding Hannes Halldorson before firing into the net.
He also becomes the first Super Eagles and Nigeria player to score at two different World Cups.
His first goal for Nigeria today was the first since his second against Argentina at the 2014 edition,
with Nigeria going 272 minutes of play.
It was a nice way from the CSKA Moscow player to repay head coach Gernot Rohr for fielding ahead of
Odion Ighalo who came off the bench to replace Kelechi Iheanacho in the second half.
