Tunde Bakare, serving overseer of Citadel Global Community Church, formerly known as Latter Rain Assembly, has warned people against committing crime, saying those who do so to acquire wealth will die before their time.
Bakare stated this in his Sunday message entitled: “I am my brother’s keeper”, which was broadcast online to his congregants.
Speaking on the state of the nation, the vice-presidential candidate of the Congress of Progressive Change (CPC) in the 2011 general elections said there is an urgent need for the reorientation of values of Nigerians in order to avert what he described as an imminent violent revolution.
Making reference to the murder of Funsho Willams, an aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2007 Lagos governorship election, the cleric said those who live by the sword will die by the sword.
Bakare called for Nigerians to work for common humanity that seeks the good of others.
“Such people think they will escape the judgement of God? They won’t. The blood of the Innocent is crying to heavens for judgement. Those who acquire wealth in fraudulent ways will suffer loss. Those who acquire wealth through crime will die at their prime. That is the word of God,” he said.
