President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday arrived Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, to declare open the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference.
He was received at the Maiduguri International Airport by Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima.
The president’s plane touched down around 11:02am.
Mohammed Bulama, Borno State Commissioner for Information, had in a statement emailed to Daily Correspondents late Tuesday evening said President Buhari is specifically visiting Maiduguri to declare open the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference which was originally slated for Benin, Edo State, but moved to Borno State.
He said on arrival in Maiduguri the President will proceed to the Palace of the Shehu of Borno to pay the Monarch a courtesy call.
The President will thereafter proceed to the venue of the Conference at the Command Guest Inn, Baga Road, Maiduguri.
Our correspondent in Maiduguri observed that all major routes to be used by the President within the state capital have been locked up and manned by armed security personnel, while police helicopters and military jets hovers the sky.
