Seems the plot to unseat the leadership of the National Assembly, and have them replaced by loyalist of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is being perfected.
Operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) had earlier blocked the entrance to the National Assembly, denying lawmakers and staff entrance to the premises.
While lawmakers were prevented from going in, there were allegations that some of them were being let in through a side entrance based on a list with the security operatives.
However, others were later allowed to go in after some time, in what many consider a reaction to harsh comments by Nigerians who were following developments.
In a related development, Senator Godswill Akpabio who has been rumored to be part of the plot to unseat Saraki resigned from his position as Senate minority leader.
He had recently embarked on a meeting with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) fueling speculations that he would soon dump his own Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the APC.
It was alleged by many, that there is a plot to unseat the Senate President Bukola Saraki, and replace him with Akpabio.
Akpabio In a letter dated August 4, 2018, and addressed to Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, the deputy Senate Minority Leader, Akpabio announced that he was stepping down from the position.
While he thanked the PDP for the opportunity to serve in that capacity, he however was not specific whether or not he was leaving the party.
