Another first was recorded on Tuesday at the First Consultant Medical Centre (FCMC) in Lagos after Mrs. Opeyemi J. Adejoro, wife of a male Ebola survivor, Dr. Adewale Adejoro, was safely delivered of a healthy baby girl at the hospital.
Announcing the birth via a statement yesterday, the hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Benjamin Ohiaeri, said the baby was born at 7:24p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.
Dr. Adejoro was working at FCMC when Nigeria’s Ebola index patient, Liberian Patrick Sawyer, was admitted at the facility. The only female doctor to survive the outbreak from the FCMC, Dr. Ada Igonoh, gave birth to a healthy baby girl in the United States of America on November 3.
“The baby girl, weighing 3kg at birth (its placenta 450g), a product of a term gestation was delivered following strict guidelines and recommendations from the Centre for Disease Control (CDC), USA, through the pre-natal and delivery stages,” Ohiaeri stated in a statement yesterday.
