The President has enthroned core values such as discipline, dedication, commitment and transparency in the public servant that had broken down totally and completely since he took power on the 27th May 2015.
The President with the introduction of the Single Treasury Account has introduced accountability and transparency in the management of public finance and blocked loopholes and leakages through which public funds were stolen by unscrupulous public servants.
The President has through prudent management and fiscal discipline soared the country’s foreign reserve from a miserable Two billion to appropriately more than thirty two billion dollars in less than six months. This is phenomenal and unprecedented!
The President has restored the national pride and integrity of the country among members of the international community which hitherto was degraded to the status of a pariah nation. The President has restored the pride and integrity of the military which was hitherto seriously down graded and at the lowest ebb.
The military in turn has mortally and seriously down graded the terrorism capacity and ability of the insurgents and in a matter of days insurgency will be roundly defeated. The President has restored meritocracy in the way and manner of appointments are made into the public service.
The President has restored the confidence of foreign investors and just last week an agreement was signed with a South Korea information technology firm-Huwaei that will create 2000 jobs in that sector! The President has abolished the office of the First Lady which hitherto was used by successive regimes in the country as an avenue to waste public funds and indulge in corrupt practices.
The President has curbed the flamboyant and loud life style of cabinet ministers and other important political appointments which previously made them susceptible to corruption.
The President has shown that he is a stickler for respect of the doctrine of Separation of power by ensuring that the executive does not in whatever guise interfere and encroach in the functions and responsibilities of the legislature and judicial branches of government.
The President has shown absolute respect for the independence of anti corruption agencies such as EFCC, ICPC, Police and CCT. This attitude has really re-invigorated, re-energized and rejuvenated these agencies to carry out their statutory mandates that has brought and restored public confidence in them.
We must give this government some credit! Happy birthday to President Muhammadu Buhari!!! The President is 73 today, the 17th December 2015!
