A federal high court sitting in Abuja this afternoon threw out a civil suit filed by the embattled former Chairman, Daar Communications, Dr. Raymond Dokpsi compelling the EFCC to admit him to bail.
The Court made the order after Dokpesi’s lawyer, Mike Ozekhome SAN informed the Court that the case was spent because Dokpesi was already inside the Court this afternoon.
Justice Gabriel Kolawole had last Friday ordered the EFCC to produce Dokpesi today (December 14) in Court after Dokpesi claimed to have been unlawfully detained beyond 48 hours by the EFCC.
The judge also ordered the EFCC to show cause why he should not grant Dokpesi’s prayer for unconditional or conditional bail.
The order followed an ex-parte application by Dokpesi’s lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) in chambers.
As at the time of filing in this report, the same court is delivering a ruling in the another criminal case preferred against Dokpesi by the EFCC.
Dokpesi is charged along with his company – Daar Holding and Investment Limited by the EFCC on a six count criminal charge.
They are accused of violating the Money Laundering Act, the EFCC Act and the Public Procurement Act.
Dokpesi is one of the highly placed Nigerians accused of involvement in the mismanagement of funds meant for the purchase of military wares under the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
