Yoruba socio-political group, the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) has announced the launch of an online radio station and a magazine to promote the Yoruba culture and tradition.
Leader of the OPC, Otunba Gani Adams said the launch of the online radio took place this past week and was done in honour of the late Mrs Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, the recently deceased matriarch of the Awolowo family and wife of foremost Yoruba leader, late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
According to Adams, the Oodua radio and magazine will serve to project, enhance and showcase the Yoruba cultural heritage and tradition of the Yoruba to the world at large. He stated that there was an urgent need to resuscitate the Yoruba culture and tradition which he regretted were going extinct.
According to him, “establishing the Oodua Radio and Magazine is a deliberate attempt to showcase Yoruba culture and ethics globally.”
