There was mild drama yesterday, October 15, as Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state arrested an officer of the Federal Road Safety (FRSC) in Ikere Ekiti for violating traffic rule.

The Nation reports that the FRSC officer identified as Adeola Alabi was driving against traffic when the governor caught him.

Alabi who was trying to avoid potholes left the bad portion of the road for the other lane, taking one way.

Unfortunately for him, the governor was on his way to the flag off of dualization of the Ado-Ikere-Ondo state boundary road and commissioning of some projects in Ikere town as part of activities marking the first anniversary of his administration at that time.

Fayose was said to have personally arrested the road safety officer and ordered security operatives in his convoy to ensure he was apprehended.

The incident which happened at Sawmill area of Ikere Ekiti caused a bit of traffic as some residents came out to watch the drama.

Afraid of being punished, Alabi prostrated before the governor, begging for forgiveness.

However, his pleas fell on deaf ear as Fayose ordered for Alabi’s Peugeot 505 Saloon car to be seized and taken to the Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency (EKSTMA) yard.

The governor insisted that he must face the law.

Alabi is expected to pay the sum N50,000 as fine for driving against traffic.

Hardly a day goes by without Fayose being involved in one drama or the other. He keeps Nigerians talking with his actions and is not bothered about the criticisms. He does what he wants and says what he feels without an apology. He challenges the the president and anyone who he feels is wrong.

The governor recently challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to prosecute Abu Zarma, the Yobe state Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), for allegedly receiving N15 million bribe to influence the governorship election in the state.
