The lingering budget controversies between the Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara and erstwhile Chairman, House Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin degenerated at Wednesday sitting following a near breakdown of law and order when the matter alleging breaches of House Rule by Jibrin was mentioned.
A motion sponsored by the Chairman, House Committee on Rules and Business, Hon. Orker Jev, drew the attention of the House to the spurious allegations made by the former Chairman.
While making reference to the House Rules, he pointed out that Jibrin as a ranking member of the House of Representatives knew well how to go about issues but was busy in the media dragging the House into a mess.
“Mr. Speaker, you remember that for quite sometime, Hon. Jibrin Abdulmumin has been busy making spurious allegations against your person and certain members which in my considered opinion amounts to breach of House Rules,” Jev stated.
At that point, the session went rowdy in an orchestrated manner as if some have been detailed to derail the session when such issues were being mentioned.
However, Dogara had a hectic day calling for calm nerves, and eventually referred the matter to Committee on Ethics and Privileges amid shouts of ‘Dogara’.
there were attempts by some members within the Chambers to interrupt other national issues being raised.
