A group of women protesters has revealed that the former first lady Patience Jonathan is very sick following the seizure of her $15million by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The women, who stormed the South-South Zonal Office of the EFCC in Port Harcourt, Rivers state on Thursday, October 27, said the health of the wife of ex-president Goodluck Jonathan has deteriorated greatly because she has no money to treat herself.
Led by High Chief Rita N. Onwunali Adandigbo, the group called Voice of Niger Delta Women expressed supported for the anti-corruption agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari but said it’s worried by the “deteriorating health situation of Mrs Patience Jonathan owing to the non-release of her money by the EFCC”. The women carried banners with inscriptions like: ‘’Please, EFCC, the malady of Mrs Patience Jonathan is of great concern to us, come to our aid in Allah’s name”; ‘’Leave our mother alone”; “Mr Chairman Sir, (EFCC) pls fight corruption with love”; “Leave Ex-president wife alone” and “Magu, unfreeze Mrs Patience Jonathan Account”. The EFCC received the protesting group through its head of public affairs of the commission, Oladele Oyewale, who assured the group that their grievances would be looked into.
