Dr Bukola Saraki, the president of the Senate, has expressed sadness over the killings which were reportedly carried out by suspected Fulani herdsman in some communities in Benue state on New Years Day.
Saraki made his comments in tweets released via his personal twitter handle, @bukolasaraki, on Thursday, January 4.
The senate president condemned the killings, stating that they had no place in Nigeria.
Saraki also called for the perpetrators to be apprehended.
The attack occurred on New Years’ day, Monday, January 1; and was confirmed by the state governor, Samuel Ortom, who disclosed that the attacks took place in some communities in Logo and Guma local government areas of Benue.
The casualty figures were confirmed from hospitals where the victims were rushed to after the attack.
